There were 65 scientific papers; only 8 best papers were selected for award session. Among the award papers 2 papers were selected from Department of Microbiology, Meenakshi Medical College.

Dr. J. Chandraprabha, Final year Post graduate student in Physiology paper was selected at two International Conferences in United Kingdom and Srilanka. Her paper titled on "Physiological bases of muscle power based performance - A Genetic Study", was adjudged as won the best Scientific Research paper in the conference and also presented " Muscle endurance in elite swimmers in the International conference - "South Asian Association of Physiologist Conference" the organized by Colombo University, at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

BEST PAPER PRESENTATION AWARD in 'ASSOCIATION OF PHYSIOLOGISTS OF TAMILNADU' CONFERENCES: (2013)
The faculties, PGs and UGs from the Department of Physiology won the best paper presentation award at VI Annual Conference, Association of Physiology of Tamil Nadu, APTCON 2013 held at Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai on 5th and 6th October 2013. There were all in all 21 papers presented in the conference (Oral and Poster presentation) out of which 9 were faculty members and 12 were MBBS students (UG category).

Prof. Dr. M. Chandrasekar:

Received the "Best Researcher cum Teacher" award from Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER) for the year 2012-13 on 25th April 2013.

Received the "Outstanding Service award" in Silver Category on 2nd February 2013 at Madurai in recognition of voluntary contribution for the empowerment of persons with visual challenges by Indian Association for the Blind.

   

The first year students of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Kanchipuram won the third prize in the State level intercollegiate Quiz competition in Physiology on "Excretory System". This programme was organized under the banner of Association of Physiologists of Tamil Nadu at Chengalpattu Medical College, Chengalpet on 23.03.2013.

   

Dr.K.V. Rajaasekhar, Professor of Radiology was awarded Best Doctor by Honble' Governer of Tamil Nadu during the Lion's Club function held at D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, Chennai on 15th May 2013.


DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY MEDICINE


Dr. R. Rajkumar MD, Professor of Community Medicine, Leading Health Professional in the World 2013 Award by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England, on 27/09/2013 for establishing the first population based cancer registry and implementing the largest cervical cancer screening programme in rural Tamil Nadu, India.

Prof.Dr.P.S. Shanmugam, Received the "Best Researcher cum Teacher" award from TN DR. M.G.R. University for the year 2013.

   

Mr. Kishore, I MBBS students of Meenakshi Medical College participated in the National level intercollege swimming competition conducted by VIT, Vellore on 7th February 2014 and won the second prize in 50 m butterfly stroke.
